The Literary, Debating & Public Speaking Society stands as a beacon of intellectual discourse and creative
expression within our academic community. Our society is dedicated to nurturing eloquent speakers, critical
thinkers, and passionate writers who can articulate their thoughts with clarity, conviction, and creativity.
We believe that effective communication is the cornerstone of leadership and success in every field, and our
society serves as a transformative platform where students discover their voice, refine their rhetoric, and
develop the confidence to inspire, persuade, and lead in any forum.
Objectives of the Society:

Club Divisions:
Our society operates through four specialized divisions:
- 1. Debate Division - Structured argumentation and competitive debating
- 2. Elocution Division - Public speaking and oratory excellence
- 3. Essay Writing Division - Creative and analytical written expression
- 4. Poetry Division - Artistic literary creation and performance

Competitive debate events featuring various formats including Oxford-style, Parliamentary, and
Lincoln-Douglas debates, where students engage in rigorous intellectual combat on contemporary
issues, developing research skills and logical argumentation.

Public speaking competitions that challenge participants to deliver compelling speeches on diverse
topics, emphasizing vocal delivery, stage presence, and persuasive communication techniques.
- 3. Essay Writing Competitions:
Creative and analytical writing contests covering topics from current affairs to philosophical
inquiries, encouraging students to develop their written voice and critical analysis skills.
- 4. Poetry Competitions:
Literary events celebrating the art of poetry, including original composition contests, recitation

- 11. Magazine and Newsletter Publication:
Student-led literary publications that showcase the creative works of society members and provide

- 12. Communication Skills Boot Camps:
Intensive training programs covering presentation skills, interview techniques, storytelling,
and professional communication for academic and career advancement.
Society Operations:
- Meeting Schedule: Monthly meetings held on the first Saturday of every month
- Documentation: Minutes maintained in departmental records and shared through online folders
- Annual Reporting: Comprehensive achievement reports submitted to Dean – Student Affairs
